Maison Cealus works as a brand identity agency inside a larger house. Line I gives a name its look, its words and its rules. Because the same house makes the films and runs the daily posting, we make every identity decision with daily use in mind.
We hold the work to one test. Someone scrolling past at speed should know it is you before they read the name.
What Line I includes
Identity work at the house covers four parts, designed together, because a name, a look and a voice made separately rarely sound like one brand.
Naming
We name companies, products and ranges. A name has to survive being said aloud once, typed into a search bar from memory and read as a handle at small size, so we test every candidate in those situations before it reaches a shortlist.
Trademark clearance is legal work and belongs with your lawyer. We build the shortlist with that step in mind, so the names you take to legal review have already passed the practical tests.
Identity system
The identity system is the set of decisions that make every surface look like one brand. It covers the wordmark, the typefaces, the colour, the layout rules and how all of it behaves in motion. We design it for the screens where it will spend its life, which today means vertical video, story frames and thumbnails.
A good system also makes the daily work faster. When the rules are clear, the person making today's post does not have to reinvent the brand to make it.
Voice and copy
Words carry as much of the brand as the visuals. We write the voice as a short set of rules covering the words you use, the words you never use, how long a sentence runs and how the brand sounds when it sells, apologises or celebrates.
Then we write the copy itself, from the website and the bios to the launch lines and the captions. A voice that lives only in a guideline document is soon forgotten. A voice written into the early posts becomes a habit.
Art direction
Art direction decides how the brand looks when it is photographed and filmed, from the casting and the set to the light, the wardrobe and the frame. It is the bridge between Line I and brand film production in Line II, and the reason a launch film and a phone-shot story can still feel like the same house.
How the identity work runs
- We start inside the business. We listen to the founder, read what the brand already says and look at what customers say back. The identity has to fit the business as it is and the one it is becoming.
- Position comes first. We settle who the brand is for and what it stands for with Line III, our marketing strategy work, so the identity has something to express.
- Name and voice, then the look. Words come early because they shape everything drawn after them.
- Test it in use. Before anything is final, we put the identity into real formats, such as a post, a story and a frame from a film, and judge it there.
- Hand it to the other lines. Film and Residence use the identity every day. The rules stay fixed while we test the content around them.
Who identity work is for
- Founders before launch who need a name, a look and a voice before they spend on content.
- Brands that have outgrown an identity made in a hurry at the start.
- Founders whose content gets views without recognition, where nobody remembers whose post it was.
- Businesses where several vendors have produced several versions of the brand.
For founders at the very start, our journal piece on brand identity for startups goes further.
What to look for in a brand identity agency
Whoever you hire, a few checks separate identity work that lasts from identity work that photographs well once.
- Ask to see identities in use. Look at real feeds months after launch and check whether each brand still looks like itself.
- Ask who uses it after handover. An identity built by people who never post tends to break in its first busy week.
- Check that words are in the scope. Voice and copy do much of the work of recognition, and they are often left out.
- Check motion and vertical formats. Your audience will mostly meet the brand on a phone, mid-scroll.
- Know who clears the name. Make sure trademark clearance has an owner before anything goes to print.

Identity inside the house
An identity earns its keep after the launch. In the house, Line I hands its rules to Film, which turns them into launch films and daily short form, and to Residence, our embedded marketing team, which posts inside the business every day. The principles of luxury marketing run through all of it, with restraint, consistency and a brand that is known before it explains itself.

Questions
What does a brand identity agency do?
A brand identity agency decides how a business is named, how it looks and how it speaks, and writes the rules that keep all three consistent. At Maison Cealus that is Line I, covering naming, the identity system, voice and copy, and art direction.
What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
A logo is one mark. A brand identity is the whole system around it, including type, colour, layout, voice and art direction, and it is what makes every post and film recognisable as yours.
Can you rework an identity we already have?
Yes. If the business has outgrown its identity, we keep what people already recognise and rebuild the parts that are holding the brand back.
How do we start identity work with Maison Cealus?
Apply through the application form and tell us what is not working in your marketing. We keep a short list of houses and reply personally if there is a fit.
